The 500L, Fiat's new foray into the MPV market, is to be unveiled at the International Geneva Motor Show, it has been confirmed.
As such, March 6th will see the Italian carmaker give the new model its world premier at the industry event.
The firm has also confirmed that the L simply stands for Large, with the model based on its smaller brother the Fiat 500.
Following the Abarth and Cabrio versions, the model marks a change of direction for the car in much the same way as MINI did with its range.
Those looking to get behind the wheel of the new car have been told that a European release can be expected for the last quarter of this year.
"With MPV passenger space combined with the feel of a small SUV on the road and the restrained dimensions and efficiency of a B segment car, the new Fiat model defies the conventional distinctions between the various segments," the firm commented.
"[It] combines the typical characteristics of different categories in order to create a distinctive alternative to the traditional B and C segments."
