Iveco is celebrating a successful sting at the 33rd Dakar Rally after securing a number of top finishes.
The van manufacturer finished first, second and sixth in the overall truck racing at the world's most-important rally, beating off stiff competition from the majority of Europe and Asia's truck makers.
Dutchman Gerard De Rooy, drove an Iveco Powerstar to victory for the Petronas De Rooy Iveco team.
The specially-equipped Iveco Powerstar featured an FPT Industrial C13 engine, with more than 900 horsepower, and Magneti Marelli parts.
Commenting on the win, Iveco chief executive officer Alfredo Altavilla said: "The Iveco participation in the Dakar 2012 aimed to confirm once more the excellent reliability of the Iveco trucks and of the FPT Industrial engines.
"Winning the rally and ranking three trucks in the first six positions is an outstanding success which shows the efficiency, strength and safety of the Iveco Trakker and Powerstar, already considered by customers as the ideal solution for everyday use and for tougher challenges."
The boss singled out the drivers and other team members for their "commitment and dedication" during the race.
