Wycombe Wanderers have completed the line-up for the semi-finals of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy after seeing off the challenge of the final Category One Academy team still in the competition.
The League One side had seen off the challenge of the West Ham U21 side in the previous round, which earned the opportunity to go up against Brighton & Hove Albion’s youngsters for a place in the last four.
The match itself would ultimately be decided across an eight minute spell either side of half-time, where Wycombe blitzed the opposition with no fewer than four goals.
Kieran Sadlier gave Wycombe the lead five minites before the break when he tapped in a rebound after an effort from Dale Taylor hit the woodwork, with Leigh Kavanagh then putting through his own net to double the lead four minutes later.
Even then, there was time for one further goal before the whistle blew, with Sadlier converting a cross from Jason McCarthy to put the Chairboys firmly in control.
Taylor got on the scoresheet shortly after the break to make it 4-0, with Luca Barrington grabbing a late consolation despite Brighton being reduced to ten men after Jamie Mullins was dismissed.
The result means Wycombe join Peterborough United, Bradford City and Blackpool in the final four, with the draw taking place on Friday evening.
Of the quartet, Wycombe and Bradford are both chasing a first win in the competition, with Blackpool previously lifting the trophy in both 2002 and 2004, and Peterborough being victorious in 2014.
