Ford Fiesta Scoops Industry Award

The Ford Fiesta, Britain's most popular car, has been handed yet another industry award.

The three-door Studio version of the car, which runs on a 1.25-litre petrol engine, was recently voted the UK's most cost-effective Small Hatchback of the Year.

Industry website Parker said the model is the best of its category available for under £13,000.

In order to ascertain which was the best car of its kind, the Parkers judging panel looked at the list price of the considered models, the running costs incurred, depreciation, showroom and road tax costs, servicing and fuel consumption.

The comprehensive judging criteria will make the win all the more satisfying for the Blue Oval, which has become used to seeing the Fiesta lauded by industry commentators and motoring enthusiasts alike in recent years.

Parkers editor Kieren Puffet said: "The Fiesta 1.25 Studio three-door has proved to be an excellent value-for-money small hatchback that is still holding its own in a very competitive segment.

"It came out top in the under-£13,000 price bracket in the Parkers Cost of Motoring New Car Awards’ small hatchback category because it has affordable running costs to go with its fantastic handling abilities and competitive list price."

Drivers looking to get behind the wheel of the popular Fiesta model can do so at a cost of just £9,795.

The car is also appealing to drivers with an eco-conscious and those keeping a closer eye on their purse strings, as the ECOnetic model delivers an impressive 85 miles-per-gallon and emits just 87g/km of CO2.

It comes shortly after the Ford Fiesta picked up a prize at the 2012 CarBuyer Car of the Year awards.

The model was praised by the panel for its running costs, safety, performance, owner satisfaction, reliability and comfort.

Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain managing director, said at the time: "The 2012 Fiesta and Mondeo models showcase the style, technology dynamics and value for which Ford is renowned. It is fantastic too that independent motoring advisers CarBuyer agree."
