Renault prepares for 100% electric tour
French carmaker Renault is looking to boost the profile of its new electric vehicle with a comprehensive tour of the UK.
The Test Drive Tour 2012 will promote the Renault Z.E. by visiting some 15 locations around the UK, with stops scheduled in London, Victoria Square, Birmingham, George Square, Glasgow and the Odyssey Centre in Belfast.
With the focus being firmly on green motoring, the tour will also see the Renault Twizy and Kangoo Van Z.E. make the stops as the firm looks to demonstrate its passion for green motoring and ability to produce class-leading vehicles for the eco-conscious driver.
The event is set to run from Friday (June 8th) until October this year, with each stop lasting three days.
Andy Heiron, UK head of electric vehicles programme at Renault, explained that the firm is the only carmaker offering such a wide range of electric vehicles, saying that the company's models appeal to a range of buyers in both the domestic and commercial markets.
"Our current three-model range has already been attracting a lot of interest, especially the unique Twizy," he commented.
"The proof of the pudding though is trying them out. We're confident that after experiencing the refined and responsive driving experience of a purely electric vehicle, combined with the financial and environmental benefits of switching to an electric vehicle, potential buyers will be smitten."
Among the features of the special events will be the Twizy agility course, which will see those in attendance able to put the innovative motor through its paces.
If Renault's marketing activity can be used as a guide, the firm has high hopes for the Twizy and its other electric models.
Indeed, the firm recently announced that international DJ sensation David Guetta, and his wife Cathy, have signed up to be ambassadors for the Twizy – a move that will see the couple take part in various promotional activities including special remixes of the DJ's tracks for use in Twizy adverts.
