W Series driver and Channel 4 presenter for F1 coverage Alice Powell is set to host our brand-new podcast ‘The Driver’, where she will be catching up with faces old and new to chat about the highs and lows of motorsports and other sports.
This year, our very own Bristol Street Motors Click2Drive racing team took to the tracks in the W Series championship, represented by talented drivers Alice Powell and Jessica Hawkins.
Though it wasn’t just about the race. It was also about helping to boost the representation of women drivers in the championship and celebrate a love for motorsport.
While the season finished in September, we didn’t want the journey to end there.
We wanted to continue celebrating the hard work of those in professional sports, from women drivers to male drivers and those from other industries.
That’s why we’ve decided to produce a brand-new podcast called ‘The Driver’, which will be hosted by 13-time podium winner Alice Powell.
Learn all about this exciting new podcast and prepare for the ride of a lifetime as Alice welcomes some familiar faces to the show, with a line-up you won’t want to miss.
‘The Driver’
The all-new podcast is set to host a number of high-profile guests to talk about the highs and lows of their sporting careers and the ‘drive’ to tackle these head-on and strive for success.
The first guest on the podcast will be BTCC racing champion Tom Ingram, who recently won the Championship finale at Brands Hatch.
Sharing her excitement for the new podcast, Alice said:
“I’m delighted that Bristol Street Motors has given me this opportunity. I am really looking forward to talking to our guests, getting deep into what drives them to be successful and learn about challenges they have faced in their careers.
“It was amazing to talk to Tom Ingram just days after he was crowned champion and Darren Gough, a true legend of the cricketing world and now a respected broadcaster in his own right.
“I am looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones over the coming months; I hope the audience enjoys the podcasts as much as I enjoy making them.”
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors, said:
“Bristol Street Motors is proud to have supported Alice and Jessica during this season’s W Series races, and to have a number of different and diverse partnerships across our wider Group’s brands.
“This new podcast will allow fans to get to the heart of what makes a great sportsperson successful, and meet people, like Eilidh Barbour who work within the industry.
“To us, the first episode highlights some of the synergies between what we do and what our motorsport teams’ incredible racing drivers do. Alice Powell and guests discuss the attention to detail, teamwork and determination required for them to succeed – exactly what we're all about as a brand.
“I can’t give away too much, but there are some very interesting conversations that transpire in that first episode, including insight into Jessica's thrilling Land Rover spillway stunt and Tom Ingram's first deep dive into his season since winning the British Touring Car Championship.
“Alice is a fantastic presenter and we’re all very excited to launch this series. We can’t wait to listen to the intriguing conversations had with some greatly inspiring guests.”
The first episode is available today, Friday 28 October, and will be available to stream on all platforms, from YouTube and Spotify to Apple Podcasts.
About Alice Powell
Alice Powell brings a wealth of motorsport knowledge to the show, having competed in the industry since her debut in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2008, followed by the Asian Renault Series in 2014.
At just 16, Alice was already making a name for herself, as the youngest female driver to compete in any Formula Renault Race taking to the tracks in the Formula Renault UK Championship.
A year later, Alice made history becoming the first woman to win the championship, which led her to competing in the GP3 Series Race.
Joining W Series in 2019, Alice has won 13 podiums to date with the highest finish of 1st place, having appeared in 21 races.
About W Series
W Series is an international championship devoted exclusively to women drivers, working to achieve inclusivity and equal opportunities for all in motorsport.
Providing women drivers with all the support needed to launch their careers both on and off the track, W Series continues to innovate and inspire, with a founding principle of equality at the heart of everything they do.
This way, winners are chosen based on their skill and performance, rather than those with the wealthiest backer.
The 2022 season saw 9 teams battle it out on the tracks in 10 races, spread across 8 weekends. Read up on Alice and Jess’ performance throughout the championships in our season round-up blog.
