BYD’s latest electric vehicle, the Seal U DM-i, has been awarded five stars in the Green NCAP Test. The test is an independent initiative that recognises clean, efficient, and eco-friendly cars.

Unlike standard homologation tests, the Green NCAP Test looks at how cars perform under more specific challenges. For example, the high-load highway cycle and the Cold Ambient Test, which is conducted at -7 degrees Celsius.
These tests reflect real-world demands for large SUVs. Assessing how factors like aerodynamic drag and cabin heating affect energy consumption.
Attesting to its efficiency, the BYD Seal U DM-i achieved an Average Score of 93%, earning it a five-star rating. It performed well despite the challenges and remained efficient even with higher consumption.
The Seal U DM-i is one of BYD’s latest innovations – a plug-in hybrid D-segment SUV offering up to 699 miles (WLTP) combined range. It features an 86kWh battery and has an official consumption rate of 20.5 kWh/100km according to Green NCAP testing.
With BYD’s exclusive Dual Mode (DM) technology, the Seal U DM-i enables drivers an electrified drive without compromise. This allows energy efficiency and fuel economy, along with a drive that’s smooth, responsive, and quieter.
With all-wheel drive technology, it can go from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, showing efficiency and performance can go hand-in-hand. Using a rapid DC charger, it can also be charged from 30-80% in just 35 minutes. After all, convenience is key!
Available in Boost and Design trims, the Seal U DM-i is packed with style and technology. Design features include U-shaped lights with staggered light clusters, and 19” alloy wheels.
Inside, the BYD Seal U DM-i offers a futuristic set-up, with a floating centre console and rotatable screen. Paying attention to detail, the gear level takes inspiration from the ocean with a crystal design. This is surrounded by easy-to-use buttons placing control at your fingertips.
With multifunctional comfort seats and a panoramic roof, all passengers are sure to be seated comfortably. The boot also offers up to 425 litres of space as standard, increased to 1,440 litres with the rear seats folded.
