Citroen has brought in the expertise of its multi-World Rally Championship winning Citroen Racing team to help create its latest consumer model.
It has presented a first look at the new Citroen DS4 Racing concept ahead of the Geneva Motor Show in March, which according to Auto Express will rival the Renaultsport Megane.
Citroen Racing has developed a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine for the model, providing up to 256bhp, a record for a Citroen series production car.
The team has also modified the DS chassis, lowering it by 35mm and the track widened by 55mm and 75mm rear and back.
It has 19-inch wheels and a four-piston calliper braking system.
Other features include carbon emissions of 155g/km and new carbon fibre components including air diffuser, front splitter and wheel arch extensions.
Auto Express noted that while Citroen is currently saying the DS4 Racing is a concept car, a limited run is likely, following on from the Citroen DS3.
