With Christmas and New Year's Eve now well and truly behind us, UK drivers could turn their attention back to their motors.
The mild weather in December has meant that motorists have been able to resist the need to put winter tyres on their vehicles.
And while this has seen them able to spend the money on gifts and festive fun, the British weather is expected to take a turn over the coming weeks.
With that in mind it is just as well that trusted publication Which? Car has issued its Best Buy stamp to two of Continental Tyres' offerings.
The TS830 and TS800 have been highlighted as class leaders by the magazine.
However, while the tyres are fitted as standard on a number of cars – including the Renault Megane and Vauxhall Zafira – Continental has claimed that awareness of such products needs to be improved.
Data from the Which? Car report showed that the ContiWinterContact TS830 in size 205/55 R16 was praised across a range of areas and beat its rivals with an overall rating of 72 per cent due in part to its superior grip on ice and performance in dry condition.
Peter Robb, brand manager at Continental, commented: "Although widely fitted across Europe, there is a huge lack of awareness in the UK about winter tyres.
"These latest accolades are testimony to the overall high performance and safety of both the TS830 and TS800. It's a real honour to be recognised in these independent tests by a leading consumer magazine."
While the Continental offerings are sure to offer improved grip, there are plenty of options for the UK's concerned motorists.
Indeed, the Michelin Alpin A4 and the Primacy Alpin PA3 winter tyres were identified as Best Buys by the publication last month.
Drivers are best off consulting their garage to ensure they opt for the best tyres to suit their car type and motoring needs.
