David Guetta named as Renault ambassador

Renault has turned to one of the biggest names in the French music scene in order to boost the profile of its latest model.

The French carmaker announced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show that David Guetta, the hugely-popular DJ and record producer, along with his wife Cathy, has been named as an ambassador for the new Renault Twizy.

It comes as the model was officially unveiled at the 82nd International Motor Show.

The partnership will see Guetta release a new edit of his track Alphabeat, which appears on his latest album.

Stephen Norman, senior vice-president of global marketing at Renault, said Guetta was a natural choice as the firm looked for an icon whose "positive energy, French roots and international success embody" the Twizy's shift into a new world.

David and Cathy commented: "Twizy represents innovation and technology and it's fantastic to be playing a part in a future-looking project.

"We are delighted to be a part of the electric revolution, especially with a car as cool, cute, fresh and easy to use as Twizy. It would be really amazing if electric cars were everywhere tomorrow."
