Bristol Street Motors Hyundai and Suzuki in Mansfield are lending support to Blidworth Colliery Welfare Cricket Club as it gears up for the new season.
The 1st X1, 2nd X1 and Sunday 1st X1 will all play in Bristol Street Motors sponsored whites as they compete in the Bassetlaw and Mansfield & District Leagues.
Blidworth CWCC was formed in the early 1930’s in the small mining village, which boasted a working pit until 1989. The club historically played in the highest level of amateur cricket in Nottinghamshire until early 2000.
New Zealand legend Chris Cairns actually played for the club at the age of 17 for one season in the late 1980’s.
The club currently has three Level 2 ECB Coaches overseeing the youth team, hoping to find the next Stuart Broad and is proud of Samuel Wood who has recently joined Nottinghamshire as a professional.
Derrol Witts, General Manager of Bristol Street Motors Mansfield Hyundai and Suzuki, said: “Blidworth CWCC has a rich heritage in the area and is very ambitious to recreate past glories with promotion to the next level.
“It is important that businesses such as Bristol Street Motors support community initiatives and sport always makes a positive contribution to an area. We are proud to be involved with Blidworth CWCC and wish all its teams the very best of luck throughout the summer.”
