Drivers travelling across the country for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekends should be prepared for breakdowns, it has been stated.
According to GEM Motoring Assist, millions for people will take to motorways this weekend and next, with many going to the capital for the Royal Wedding on April 29th.
But precautions should be taken to ensure that journeys are smooth and timely, the firm commented.
It is important to check tyres, batteries, oil, coolant, lights, mirrors and fuel before setting off, while motorists should also take note of anything out of the ordinary with their vehicle.
Always carrying a fully-charged mobile phone and waterproof clothes could also help those who are caught in delays or a breakdown, GEM argued.
Chief executive David Williams commented: "Too often there are drivers who have no breakdown cover whatsoever, meaning they are left in a very tricky situation should something go wrong."
GEM recently advised motorists that they could make savings on fuel by ensuring their tyres are correctly inflated and that they do not carry unnecessary luggage.
