As if further proof were needed, the Fiat 500 has enhanced its reputation as one of the UK's most-popular cars with impressive sales figures.
Last month saw the 100,000th model sold in the UK and the milestone follows a number of headlines depicting industry accolades and celebrity endorsement deals.
It is easy to see why the car is so popular however, as it is easy on the eye and a pleasure to drive.
Add that to the fact that it is extremely economical and kind to the environment and it is clear to see why Fiat has a winner on its hands, especially among drivers in city areas.
According to Fiat's figures, 80 per cent of all the 500 models that have been sold in the UK featured the 1.2-litre petrol engine, but of late drivers have been opting for the even greener version.
Despite not being introduced until 2010, the 0.9-litre, two-cylinder, Twin Air version now accounts for eight per cent of total UK sales.
As is the case with all Italian marques, style is as important as substance and this is reflected in the choices of colour, with the majority of drivers opting for Bossanova white, Pasodoble red and Volare light blue.
This makes a change from the endless sea of black and silver that can be seen on motorways up and down the country.
Commenting on the sales milestone, Elena Bernardelli, marketing director at Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd, said: "We were always confident that the 100,000 landmark would come.
"It's a wonderful achievement and I am sure that we will see many more sales successes in the years to come."
The comments come after the Fiat 500 was named International Car of the Year in 2008, BusinessCar Awards City Car of the Year 2011, What Car? Green Awards Supermini 2010.
Fiat has also collaborated with fashion giant Gucci to create some super-styled editions of the motor.
