Hyundai scooped three World Car Awards for their all-electric IONIQ 5 crossover at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
IONIQ 5 was crowned 2022 World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year. The awards were judged by a panel of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries around the world.
The IONIQ 5 was competing alongside 27 competitor models that launched in 2021 but claimed victory in all three categories it was nominated in.
Since it’s launch in 2021, IONIQ 5 has brought home numerous awards including UK Car of the Year and Auto Express Car of the Year. The model marks the start of a new era of Hyundai EV’s based on a dedicated and advanced E-GMP all-electric platform.
IONIQ 5’s bespoke Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) offers 800-V super-fast charging capabilities, for a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes and a maximum driving range of 292-298 miles on a single charge.

Hyundai are on a mission to accelerate their electrification strategy by becoming the world’s leading EV manufacturer. With 17 new BEV (battery electric vehicle) models planned to launch by 2030, Hyundai aims to boost annual global BEV sales to 1.87 million units also by 2030.
