The latest Mazda MX-5 is a much sportier model that has undergone subtle changes to build on the successes of its predecessor.
It retains a lot of the qualities that made its precursor so successful, including the reliable and powerful 2.0-litre engine with 158bhp and the superb six-speed manual gearbox.
The technology this model packs is impressive. There is, for example, an integrated sat-nav feature. This 5.8 inch touchscreen gadget is as state of the art as it gets.
Other innovations include connections for MP3 players, weather updates and speed camera alerts.
The design has also undergone a delicate change. There is a new chin spoiler, bumper and grille, which all echo the previous design but build upon its legacy.
"A fusion of art and science where everything works in harmony to deliver the ultimate adrenaline rush," the car manufacturer has stated. "A car that makes you feel connected. Alive. In touch."
All in all, this new edition is all about simple modifications, as opposed to a major overhaul.
Smoother, sportier and more streamlined, the Mazda MX-5 is certainly moving in the right direction.
