European showrooms are step closer to showcasing the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport following the news that the vehicle has made its debut in North America
The new car, which is a compact crossover dubbed the RVR in Japan and ASX in Europe, is mainly aimed at competing with the 2010 Hyundai Tucson, which has a similar price tag to the Mitsubishi, reports Auto Evolution.
Motorists opting for the Outlander Sport will have a choice of seven exterior colours, including cool silver, mercury gray, Laguna blue, cosmic blue, rally red, diamond white and labrador black.
Power will be derived from a 2.0-litre engine supported with a CVT gearbox, with fuel efficiency, rather than performance, believed to be behind the vehicle's creation.
The vehicle is about 15-inches shorter than the Outlander GT, which is just a rung above it in terms of Mitsubishi's model range, and it is also lighter thanks to its weight-saving plastics in the front fenders.
Meanwhile, Ford recently debuted an electric version of one of its most popular models - the Transit Connect Electric.
