The Ford Mustang Mach-E was crowned The Sunday Times’ 2021 'Car of the Year', and the Ford Transit Custom Leader was announced as the Sun’s 'Van of the Year'.
The all-electric Mustang Mach-E was awarded 'Car of the Year' for its impeccable design and sporty handling and performance. Ford was also commended for recognising that consumers want more than one battery size option, with up to 379 miles range and the option to buy two- or four-wheel drive versions.
Will Dron, editor of Driving.co.uk at The Sunday Times said:
“Rapid 150kW charging, a roomy interior, brilliantly-realised infotainment touchscreen and high-end sound system all add to the superb package.”
The Sun awarded the entry-level Ford Transit Custom Leader, with 'Van of the Year', based on its affordability and value for money. This is also the UK’s best-selling vehicle of the year - so far.
The Ford Transit Custom Leader comes with SYNC connectivity, USB sockets and air-con as standard, and with prices starting from £24,400 Ford has ensured that accessibility has been considered.
In other recent award ceremonies, the Ford Ranger pick-up has taken multiple titles, thanks to its Stormtrak, Wolftrak, MS-RT and Raptor Special Edition models which have further enhanced its appeal. The Kuga and S-MAX have also been declared as the best tow cars.
