The trend-setting Nissan Leaf electric car is being given a stylish makeover in 2013, with the new vehicle looking set to be more economical too.
Being produced on British shores at the Japanese manufacturer's factory in Sunderland, the brand-new, all-electric Nissan Leaf is set to receive a range boost from 109 miles on the original model to 124 miles on the new vehicle.
The five-door car is set to receive its extended range from a number of design choices, including the fact that the new Leaf is coming complete with a fresh aerodynamic grille unit.
Reduced friction for the internal workings of the innovative electric vehicle is also set to play a vital part in allowing the car to go further, as is its more efficient battery and energy management system arrangements.
When it comes to comfort behind the wheel, the reworked Nissan Leaf is being installed with a more efficient heating system too, as well as the option of a 'B' setting on the transmission unit.
This latter feature is designed to offer the vehicle with even more regenerative braking than the previous model could achieve.
Drivers who have little time to spare on their commute will also be pleased to hear that the new Nissan Leaf is being offered with an optional Quick Charger device.
This gadget effectively allows motorists to reduce the electric car's full charging time from eight hours to just four when using a 32-amp supply, instead of the previously common 13-amp unit.
Summing up the vehicle's appeal, a Nissan spokesman said: "The new Nissan Leaf has arrived – and it has a longer range, is more practical, better to drive and has even more equipment.
"Improvements include an extended driving range, greater recyclability, more interior space, better charging performance, more equipment and, with three versions now available, greater choice."
