The new, 5-door Mazda 3 hatchback has been revealed to the world's media in a full-scale assault for column inches. Mazda’s best-selling car ever is now the third new model to benefit from the Japanese manufacturer's overall new-car-plan, and features now familiar terms and technology like the “KODO – Soul of Motion” design style and SKYACTIV Technology.
The SKYACTIV Technology side of things is probably most important to drivers of the new Mazda 3, with the aim being that everything is as light and efficient as possible; from engines, chassis and bodywork. It's thought that this lightness brings with it great driving fun and efficiency, as well as economy, and it's hard to argue with that.
Matching the curvy KODO styling on the outside is an all-new interior that is driver-focused and distinctly modern, and brings many firsts to the supermini new car market segment. For example, there is in-car connectivity via the AhaTM radio system that lets Mazda 3 passengers go online; a first for this type of car.
The new Mazda 3 goes on sale in the autumn, with prices and full specifications to be confirmed nearer to the on sale date.
