Renault has confirmed UK pricing and specification for their popular Scenic model, with the new-look range featuring a tough-looking, extra styled variant, called the Scenic XMOD. Prices for the 2013 set of Scenics start at £17,955, with XMOD costing the same as the equivalent standard Scenic, even with its enhanced styling and higher equipment level.
The new Scenic XMOD may well turn out to be the star of the range, what with the UK's current appetite for more rugged-looking crossovers. The XMOD, with its 'bash-plates' and higher ride height takes the crossover's greater exterior space and adds a dash more practicality and ease-of-use, thanks to that taller ride height and chunky styling. And there are other new tricks up its sleeve, too.
The XMOD comes with additional equipment over its Scenic sister car in the range and also debuts Renault’s new traction control system, called Grip Xtend. Working with specific Continental mud and snow tyres, Grip Xtend helps the XMOD handle slippery conditions - like mud or snow - and means that the XMOD can take the winter road less travelled without having a less fuel efficient four-wheel drive system.
Further areas of practical note are a boot capacity of 555 litres - with the rear seats slid forward - and 1,870 litres with the rear seats removed. This is one of the biggest boot areas in the class. Inside, there is more storage for the family on the move with 86 litres of stowage space dotted around the cabin. The Scenic XMOD also brings independent seats that can move, fold and disappear entirely with some quick and easy moves; making it a truly practical, all-weather family vehicle.
The order books are now open for all versions of the new Renault Scenic. The Scenic XMOD is available in two trim levels with a starting price of £17,955, while the new Scenic starts at £19,155, and the seven-seater Grand Scenic from £20,355; both in Dynamique TomTom specification levels.
