Nissan was the first manufacturer in the world to create a commercially available electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF. The brand has also been one of the most successful teams on the Formula E grid.
Two of the team drivers, Norman Nato and Sacha Fenestraz taught young children about the future of mobility and electric vehicles. During the new EV School series, the drivers received questions about what they think about electric vehicles. The children were also curious about their experiences as Formula E drivers.
The duo went on to explain how the technological features in Formula E cars will be transferred into production vehicles soon. The children were able to drive their own small Nissan ARIYAs on the grid.
The series also featured global research, with the intention to find out what children think motorsport will be like in 2043. Children aged six to ten participated in the study.
According to the research, children believed that in 2043, there would be flying cars. They also thought that the cars could change colour and able to drive on any terrain without issues. Terrifyingly, they also believed in robots taking over the world.
Other things the children thought cars could do in future included:
“It’s important to teach kids about the future and all of them will be driving electric vehicles when they grow up. Everything we develop in our Formula E cars is designed to make a better tomorrow.”
Norman Nato, Nissan Formula E Team driver, commented:
“It’s important to teach kids about the future and all of them will be driving electric vehicles when they grow up.
"Everything we develop in our Formula E cars is designed to make a better tomorrow."
"We work hard on creating technology that becomes available in electric road cars and it’s exciting for me to be at the forefront of innovation."
Nissan Formula E Team driver, Sacha Fenestraz, also said:
"The future of Formula E is going to be extremely exciting and it’s great to hear what the next generation of drivers think it will look like.”
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next 20 to 30 years, maybe we’ll be able to race in flying cars, but I hope robot drivers don’t replace us!”
