The Renault Sport Formula One team is looking forward to the German Grand Prix this weekend, when the manufacturer's engines will attempt to propel Sebastian Vettel to victory for the seventh time this season.
Head of track operations for the group Remi Taffin explained the strategy for the forthcoming race, noting that track conditions change regularly over two days.
"We will run less aggressive engine maps at the start of the event to allow the driver to be smoother on the throttle and fine tune towards a more aggressive mapping as the grip improves," he said.
The Nuburgring track is 3.2 miles long and lies near the Eifel mountains in the north of Germany.
Renault engines have powered drivers to victory five times at the location and the brand may be in for at least a podium finish with the Red Bull team.
In first practice today (July 22nd) Fernando Alonso scored the fastest time for Ferrari, but Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel came in second and third respectively.
