Scott Parker Takes The Reigns At Turf Moor

Scott Parker has been charged with leading Burnley FC back to the Premier League after being named as the man to replace Vincent Kompany as Head Coach.

The former England international returns to management having previously taken both Fulham and Bournemouth from the EFL Championship to the top flight, whilst he also had a short stint in charge of the Belgian side Club Brugge.

Having spent just over a year out of the game, he admitted the was excitement at the opportunity to take the reigns at Turf Moor as the Bristol Street Motors-backed side looks to bounce back from relegation at the first opportunity.

“There was offers, but it just wasn’t the right time for me, I wanted to recharge a little bit and go over things in my head,” he said

“The main thing was taking some air, clearing everything and spending time with family to be ready for this position I’m in now.

“Looking on from afar, the journey Burnley have been on has been really exciting to watch, from Sean Dyche’s time through to Vincent most recently.

“I have absolutely no doubt that this is the right opportunity and perfect fit for me and I’m ready to get going now.

“For us to be successful this year is the most important thing. We have to win and build a team the fans and club can be proud of. This team can represent every single one of them in that aspect and that’s the aim.”

News of Parker taking over in his new role comes as the same time as experienced midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson returns to the club little over a month after leaving following the end of his contract.

“Leaving the club in the situation it was, getting relegated, was difficult,” he said. “I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to help get us back into the Premier League where we belong.

“I had a conversation with Alan Pace [Burnley chairman] about the club and what we could do to get it back into the Premier League and here I am, signing again as a Burnley player.”
