Scottish rugby stars to drive Ford models over the coming year

Scottish rugby players John Barclay and Geoff Cross are to drive around in Ford Focus and Ford Kuga models this season after collecting the keys this week.

The two will use the cars as part of the manufacturer's sponsorship deal with Scottish Rugby, which has been running since 2007.

Cross and Barclay were earlier this week named in the 30-man squad who will travel to New Zealand for this year's Rugby World Cup, but upon their return will be driving around in two of Ford's newest models.

Anthony Ireson, marketing director at Ford of Britain, said that it is "only appropriate" that the carmaker continues its relationship with rugby.

"We are delighted to extend our contract with Scottish Rugby and to provide these rugby stars with models from Ford's product range - the Ford Kuga and all-new Ford Focus," he said.

It comes only days after official pictures of the new Kuga were revealed after the model was launched as a concept in Detroit last January.
