The plant has produced high voltage batteries since 2019 when it launched production of the battery used in the Superb iV plug-in and now runs two assembly lines developing batteries of different capacities that are used in both the Enyaq and Elroq models.
With all batteries suitable for use in vehicles based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, models in the VW, SEAT, Cupra and Audi ranges all use products produced at Mlada Boleslav.
A battery is produced every 60 seconds by a combination of skilled workers and specialist robots with a daily capacity of 1,500 units.
“Reaching the milestone of one million battery systems made by Skoda Auto for Volkswagen Group vehicles testifies to the dedication of our team and the close collaboration among the different brands,” Andreas Dick, board member for Production and Logistics, said.
“This achievement also highlights our commitment to sustainable mobility and our contribution to driving the industry’s transformation towards a greener future.
“With determination, we are now taking the next steps: Construction of an additional battery system facility in Mlada Boleslav is already underway.”
