SKYACTIV tech helps establish environmentally-friendly Mazda 6 cars

The all-new Mazda 6 petrol car is set to boast low emissions, plenty of power and an attractive MPG rating.

According to the Japanese car giant, its SKYACTIV system has enabled the firm to produce vehicles that are able to improve aerodynamics and put more of a focus on a vehicle's powertrain.

Enhancements have also been established on the chassis and transmission designs of various Mazda cars, while a vehicle's weight is reduced considerably when put side-by-side with an outgoing model.

All of this is evident when analysing the benefits that the SKYACTIV technology has provided the all-new Mazda 6 petrol car with.

Coming with a choice of our-door Saloon or five-door Tourer body styles, each vehicle makes the right impression where fuel efficiency and protecting the environment are concerned.

Drivers who opt for the all-new Mazda 6 with a Tourer chassis will be presented with a vehicle that limits CO2 emissions to 131g/km and boasts a combined fuel cycle of 50.4mpg.

The Saloon guise improves on these figures, with CO2 emissions this time restricted to a respectable 129g/km, while 51.4mpg can be achieved on a combined fuel cycle.

Steve Tomlinson, head of fleet at Mazda, is confident that the two new Mazda 6 vehicles can appeal to company car drivers – a segment of the motoring industry long dominated by diesel models.

Mr Tomlinson pointed out: "However, there is a section of the company car driving population that require an upper medium sector car to meet work or lifestyle requirements but do not drive quite as many miles.

"Consequently, we believe that the all-new petrol-engine Mazda6 offers the perfect choice as employees can enjoy the car's top-notch performance whilst benefiting from tax savings versus competitor models."

The all-new Mazda 6 will launch across the UK in January 2013, with the model being made available in SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav trim levels.
