We have long heard the dangers and frightening statistics about people who use their mobile phone when on the road.
Having just one hand on the wheel while making a call or trying to text when in the driver's seat is one of the biggest causes of accidents on the roads today.
To try and stop people from being a risk to themselves and to others, many companies are now fitting their latest models with smartphone connectivity features.
Not only does this help to minimise the risks associated with receiving calls and texts when in the car, it also enables drivers to make use of their favourite apps on the go.
Ford's AppLink feature, for example, allows drivers to access a number of useful apps with voice activation. This means that the person behind the wheel can keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel, but still take advantage of connective features.
Vauxhall has even described its limited edition Black and White ADAMs as 'smartphones on wheels'.
Drivers that have iOS 6 or other compatible iPhones are able to sync their phones to the car and use the Siri Eyes Free function using steering wheel controls. They can then operate their phone using voice commands to get Siri to read out text messages and compose replies, as well as making the most of mobile data and internet connectivity.
The NissanConnect system also allows for effective smartphone integration. This means drivers can access music and social media apps, as well as other entertainment features when out on the road.
In the Nissan X-Trail, for example, these can be selected using the car's seven-inch high-resolution screen.
Staying safe on the road should be of paramount importance to drivers all over the country. If you rely on your smartphone for business when out on the road, investing in a car with a connectivity system could really be a huge benefit when it comes to avoiding accidents.
