A sneak peek of the new Mazda 6 coupe hints towards a stylish design that is sure to give the Audi A5 plenty of competition.
Drivers have had the first opportunity to get an idea of what this vehicle is all about, courtesy of an exclusive image released by Auto Express.
Presented as a three-door model, the picture shows how the Japanese car maker has been able to combine the Mazda 6's iconic swoopy design with a coupe body.
The result is an eye-catching vehicle that keeps the range's state-of-the-art 'wing' grille design, but adds to it by having creases running through the length of the exterior to give off a muscular stance.
While further details of the Mazda 6 coupe are scarce, drivers are set to be able to choose between a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel motor.
Furthermore, Mazda program manager Hiroshi Kajiyama disclosed to Auto Express back at August's Moscow Motor Show that "the CX-5 heightened the brand position. This car [the 6] has to raise it further again".
The Mazda 6 Coupe is set to launch in 2014.
