Euro NCAP tested the DS 3 Crossback’s standard safety features, measuring the effectiveness in event of frontal, side and rear-end collisions.
Passenger Protection
The report witnessed good protection for driver and passenger in the event of frontal-offset, and a similar level of protection for occupants of different sizes and those sat in different positions. During the full-width rigid barrier test, the DS 3 Crossback showed a good and adequate protection for all critical body areas of the front and rear passengers, scoring maximum points in the side barrier impact and more severe side pole test. In the event of rear-end collision, the car showed good protection against whiplash injuries in the front and rear seats.
Children
During the frontal offset test, the DS 3 Crossback demonstrated good and adequate protection of all critical body areas on the 10-year dummy. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow rearward-facing child restraints to be used, with clear information provided to the driver about the status of airbags.
Pedestrians and Vulnerable Road Users
In the case of a stricken pedestrian, the car bonnet provided good to marginal protection and there was good protection from the bumper. The optional ‘Active Safety Brake pack’ includes an AEB that responds to pedestrians.
This report gives the DS 3 Crossback a four-star safety rating as of July 2019, receiving five stars when used with the optional ‘Active Safety Brake’.
