View our list of fun, indoor activities for you and your loved ones to enjoy – from movie and game nights to crafts and more!
As the weather begins to turn and it gets colder, you might not plan on going out in your Motability vehicle as often. Other than for work or the weekly food shop, of course.
With this in mind, we’ve provided some ideas for indoor activities to keep you occupied this winter. Perfect to enjoy with family and friends!
When did you last watch the Harry Potter films? If the answer is never, then it’s time to hunker down and press play.
Set in the wizarding school of Hogwarts, the renowned series sees young boy Harry accepted to the school along with friends Hermione and Ron. Here, they learn to master their power as wizards – facing all kinds of tasks and challenges along the way.
The eight-part film series is based on the books of the same name by J.K. Rowling and is filled with fantastical characters and creatures. With often wintery scenes, it can also make quite a festive watch!
Fantasy and action-packed, the Harry Potter films will be enjoyed by the whole family. So, when the weather becomes treacherous, grab some snacks, get cosy and make a start! You’ll find them on most streaming platforms, including ITVX, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.
Another great pastime for the whole family, this one could get quite competitive! When the weather disappoints, there’s nothing better than getting out your favourite board games and having a games night.
From the classics like Monopoly and Pictionary to boardgame versions of shows like Taskmaster and The 1% Club. There are lots of great board games suitable for the whole family to play – so dig out the boxes and get seated around the table.
If you’re more of a quizmaster, then a music or film quiz will be perfect for you. Just hop onto YouTube or ask Alexa to find you a quiz, and don’t forget to grab some paper and pens!
There’s nothing better than a hot chocolate to warm you up on an unforgivingly cold night. Why not try making your own hot chocolate bombs for a real treat?
You’ll need a silicone semi-sphere mould for this one, or any shape you have as long as you can stick two halves together at the end.
Melt some chocolate in a microwavable bowl and use a pastry brush to cover each semi-circle with a layer of chocolate. You’ll need to leave this to set and then brush over another layer or two of melted chocolate to create a thick shell.
You can then add in any treats for a surprise when melted, like mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, or sprinkles. The possibilities are endless!
Once you’ve added in any fillings to half of the moulds, you can then stick one of your empty halves on top using more melted chocolate to create a sphere. To finish, you could drizzle any leftover chocolate and add more sprinkles.
Then, you’re ready to serve – just place one hot chocolate bomb into a mug of hot milk and stir! It’s a fun pastime that kids will especially enjoy, and the end result is a tasty one.
Crafting is always an enjoyable indoor activity, and there are lots of DIY options if you’re unsure.
Candle or mug painting is both fun and easy, and you can order a kit online containing everything you need. These are sure to keep you busy when the weather outside is dismal and could make a great personalised gift for Christmas too!
Other crafts include crocheting, embroidery, painting, knitting, pottery, and more. These will, of course require more equipment, but it could lead to a new hobby to take with you through the winter.
Why not try hand-making your Christmas cards this year, and secure a prime spot on your friends or neighbours’ mantelpiece? You could even invite friends or loved ones round to participate and make a night of it.
