Motorists and car sales professionals are gearing up for Tyre Safety Month, which will begin in October.
The event is intended to increase awareness about all aspects of tyre safety, including appropriate tread depth, tyre wall damage, pressures, and keeping appropriate tyres on your vehicle dependent on the weather.
With the colder and icier winter months approaching, the latter will soon be particularly important for motorists up and down the country.
The purchase of winter tyres could prove to be a wise investment. Providing increased grip and handling on treacherous roads, the tyres might be the difference between staying safe and a tragic accident.
A release from Tyre Safe reads: "This year, we're simply asking drivers to check their pressure during tyre safety month and to make a commitment to carry on doing so on a monthly basis. It's quick. It's simple. And it might just save your life."
In 2011, an estimated 1,100 road casualties were caused by defective, under-inflated or illegal tyres.
