New data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), shows Vauxhall is this year’s leading electric car brand.
In the race toward electric mobility, British car brand Vauxhall is leading the way, new research has revealed. The Society of Motor Manufacturers (SMMT)’s new vehicle registration figures were published today on 4th October 2024.
The success is shared across Vauxhall’s passenger car range. Including the Corsa Electric – the UK’s best-selling supermini in 2024, and the Mokka Electric.
SMMT’s research showed that Vauxhall has sold 9,358 electric cars year-to-date, placing them as the leading brand for EVs in the combined B-segment.
The Corsa Electric continues to lead the supermini segment, with 3,774 models sold so far this year. This contributed to Vauxhall achieving a 25.2% electric car sales mix in September alone.
It’s not just Vauxhall’s electric car range that’s enjoying great success, however. The brand’s electric van range has also performed well, placing Vauxhall second in the electric LCV market. Along with third in the wider LCV market.
Reflecting on the brand’s success, Vauxhall’s Managing Director James Taylor, said:

Our new pricing structure for the Corsa Electric and Astra Electric, alongside the introduction of models like the New Frontera - the first car to achieve electric and internal combustion engine price parity in the UK market - makes going electric even more affordable.
Vauxhall is dedicated to making electric mobility accessible to all, with a fully electric version of every model in our line-up available by the end of the year.”

Vauxhall Corsa Electric
Vauxhall’s electrified version of the beloved Corsa offers up to 246 miles (WLTP) range and signature, sporty styling. With running costs comparable to a petrol Corsa according to the brand, it’s a hero for efficiency!
Vauxhall Astra
The 100% electric Astra offers up to 256 miles (WLTP) range and zero emissions. There’s also a plug-in hybrid version if you prefer, with a 1.6-litre Turbo petrol engine and an electric motor, providing up to 39 miles (WLTP) electric range.
Vauxhall Mokka
With bold, energetic styling, and nippy, efficient performance, the Mokka Electric really does offer it all. The 50kWh battery enables up to 252 miles (WLTP) on a single charge, while 260Nm torque makes it quick off the mark.
Vauxhall Grandland
An electric SUV built for practicality and convenience, the Grandland Electric is great for families. The 100% electric powertrain offers up to 425 miles (WLTP) range, while there is also a hybrid option available.
