Volvo Car UK is backing a unique music, culture and arts festival in north Wales in a big way once again this year.
Festival No 6, which is being held in Portmeirion, will see visitors offered free one-hour paddle board lessons by Team Volvo members, while among the music acts such as the Pet Shop Boys and Beck will be Swedish singer-songwriter and superstar-in-waiting Andreas Moe, who is supported by Volvo.
In addition, since 3G access is limited because of the unique location, Volvo will be using its Sensus Connect infotainment system to provide free wi-fi to visitors, letting them keep family and friends updated about their festival fun via social media and the internet.
Volvo will also be supplying cars to complement the public shuttle service and will provide transport for VIPs as well as for production support.
Portmeirion, in Gwynedd, is a unique coastal resort and popular tourist village set in its own private peninsula and surrounded by 145 acres of sub-tropical woodlands and miles of sandy beaches. Built in the Italianate style by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, it shot to fame after being used for location filming in '60s cult TV series The Prisoner and has featured in many other television shows, including Doctor Who.
The boutique festival takes place from 5th to 7th September, and Moe will be giving two performances in the Portmeirion Town Hall in front of a limited number of festival-goers as part of his bid to break the UK market.
The paddle boarding lessons will be open to individuals, couples, families and groups and held on the beach at Portmeirion.
The vehicle manufacturer also supported the festival last year and Nikki Rooke, head of corporate communications, events and sponsorship for Volvo Car UK, said, "I'm delighted to be teaming up with Festival No 6 for the second year in succession. This is a truly unique festival that fits perfectly with Volvo's brand and is set in such an idyllic backdrop. I'm sure the festival-goers will have a great time giving standup paddle boarding a try and I hope they enjoy Andreas's performance."
Through Volvo Car UK's sponsorship of Sky Atlantic, a special advance preview of one of the channel's brand-new series will also be screened in the new venue of the Gate House two weeks before its broadcast premiere.
Festival Director Bradley Thompson said: "Having worked with Volvo on a number of incredible projects over the past few years, we have always been impressed with their forward-thinking attitude and way in which they work with us as a brand and festival to not only provide a service for those attending, but add to the overall experience. I am particularly looking forward to the standup paddle boarding on the estuary and the exclusive performance in the Town Hall from Andreas Moe."
