In the latest set of accolades from consumer champions Which?, Continental tyres took home one of the top awards.
The brand's ContiWinterContact TS850 tyre in the size 225/45 R17 H was awarded the Best Buy title, after achieving top scores across the board for its performance, safety and durability. According to judges, the rubber was simply "hard to fault".
During the festive period, the UK has not been subject to the icy conditions that the nation is perhaps used to. However, with lots of rain and flooding in many areas, the UK's roads have been much more treacherous. More poor weather is also expected in the coming weeks.
Winter tyres will be extremely useful in these conditions, as they provide greater stopping distance and control.
Which? said: “Our experts measured good grip on all surfaces: dry road, wet road, snow and ice. Fuel economy and tyre wear were impressive, too.”
Having achieved the Best Buy award, it also suggests the ContiWinterContact tyres also offer great value for the benefits it provides.
The tyres are a popular fit on the Vauxhall Astra, while the smaller version - the 185/60 R15T - can be found on the Renault Clio and the Volkswagen Polo. This tyre was also awarded a Best Buy for its size.
Brand manager at Continental Peter Robb said: “The ContiWinterContact TS850 has taken the winter market by storm. In a string of tyre tests in Europe, the tyre has consistently beaten the best to take top spot, we are delighted that the TS 850 has been recognised by Which?.”
