100 years' service at BSM Chesterfield Nissan
Bristol Street Motors Chesterfield Nissan is celebrating the major work anniversaries of some of its colleagues.
Helen Solley, assistant accountant, Lee Beard, parts advisor and Pat Goodwin, parts manager, have worked at the Discovery Way-based dealership for 20 years. Stewart Crossland, started as an apprentice in 1978 and has been at the site for 40 years.
Throughout his career, Stewart has worked in multiple roles in the parts department including front counter assistant, working with exhaust parts and body shop and his most recent position as parts advisor. To honour his 40 years’ of service, Stewart was invited to a celebratory lunch by the Robert Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors, the Group which operates Bristol Street Motors.
Stewart said: “I am partially deaf but that has never stopped me from doing my job to an excellent standard. The motor retail industry is ever-changing and that has been very clear in the various roles I have worked in. I am always learning new things, which is challenging, but it keeps my job fresh and exciting.
“It was great to be invited to the long service lunch by Robert and to spend time with other colleagues, who are celebrating the jobs that that they have loved for a number of years.”
David Jenkins, general manager of Bristol Street Motors Chesterfield Nissan, added: “I’ve worked with Stewart for the last two years and I’ve yet to meet anyone else with the knowledge and experience he has. He is definitely the go to guy for our technicians and service advisors.
“Stewart is more than happy to support and help train any new starters we bring in to the team and is huge support to the business. I have to say it’s a pleasure having him with us and we are definitely a much better team for having him in it.”
