A rare 1964 Ford Lotus Cortina FIA race car is set to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions' next event.

With an estimate of between £70,000 and £80,000 the model is among the highlights of the Race Retro and Classic Car Sale, which will take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, from 24th to 26th February.

A 1933 Talbot 110 Alpine Replica will also feature at the event and it is estimated that it will fetch between £130,000 and £160,000.

The auction forms part of the schedule of events at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show, which organisers are billing as "Europe's premier historic racing even".

The event will also be used to mark two special occasions of German supercar manufacturer Porsche.

Commenting on what motoring enthusiasts can expect from the show, Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: "The weekend will pay a special tribute to 30 years of the Porsche 956, the most successful Group C racing car of all time, whilst also celebrating 60 years of the Porsche marque in motorsport.

"Therefore, we expect many Porsche enthusiasts to take the opportunity of attending our auction. If past experience is anything to go by, bidding will be strong for any models that come under the hammer."
