All-new Leon 'begins a new chapter for SEAT'

The specifications for the all-new SEAT Leon have been revealed, with fans of the range bound to be amazed at how much has been changed over the generations.

Engineers at the Spanish car manufacturer have gone back to the drawing board with the third-generation Leon, redesigning the vehicle from the chassis up.

So what can drivers expect to find when they first lay their eyes on this all-new car? This in-depth guide should provide a few answers.

Admire the all-new Leon's distinctive exterior design

There is no denying that the third-generation SEAT Leon is a thing of beauty where vehicle manufacturing is concerned. Drivers are sure to find something to love no matter what angle they are viewing the car from.

For starters, the all-new Leon's chassis is finished with finely detailed lines that help to give the vehicle a distinctive look that many other car maker's could only wish to achieve.

On top of this, the proportions of the third-generation Leon have been made more slender when compared to its outgoing predecessor, while a trapezoidal grill and horizontal honeycomb structure will turn heads once the car takes to the road.

The features of the all-new SEAT Leon are also well worth admiring, with maintenance-free LED headlights illuminating vast areas of the road ahead, while daytime running lights, which activate automatically, ensure driver safety is never compromised no matter the weather conditions.

Feel at home with the Leon's sleek interior design

SEAT has underlined that it only uses "the finest materials" when designing the interiors of its vehicles. This can be seen all around the third-generation Leon.

Comfort is guaranteed as soon as the driver and passengers slide into the car's seats, which come in a choice of standard or sporty models.

The standard variety allows people to adjust the height of their seat, so that the best ergonomic position can be achieved, while the sporty model supports stronger contours and stiffer seat cushioning.

Drivers are also sure to fall in love with the all-new Leon's upholstery. Here, people can admire a fabric cloth that is a joy to behold and sleek leather for that added touch of sophistication. Then there is Italian microfibre Alcantara, which intertwines to enhance the sporty vibe of the car.

The Leon allows drivers to become one with technology

If the interior and exterior designs of the third-generation SEAT Leon tick the right boxes, then the technology features of the car is sure to blow prospective buyers away.

This is because the vehicle is brimming with gadgets and ideas that literally allows drivers to "step into SEAT's futuristic world", or so the Spanish car maker claims.

There is plenty to back up this bold suggestion. The LED headlights and automatic daytime running lights have already been mentioned previously, but there is so much more to play with yet.

One of the highlights where the all-new SEAT Leon's technology offerings are concerned has to be the car maker's latest generation of Human Machine Interface (HMI).

Tucked onto the vehicle's dashboard just above the gearstick, people will find that they have so much available to them at a touch of a button and via a 5.8-inch, full-colour interface.

Getting lost on a road trip will be a thing of the past, thanks to a comprehensive navigation system, while a rain sensor alert will automatically switch on the Leon's windscreen wipers at the same time as telling the driver about the changing weather conditions.

iPod, USB, SD-card, Bluetooth, CDs and AUX-IN for MP3s/MP4s and audio streaming are all compatible with the HMI too, thus providing drivers with the perfect in-car entertainment system.

Dr Matthias Rabe, vice-president of Research and Development for SEAT, has rounded up this car's appeal by stating: "The new Leon is an all-new car and opens a new chapter for SEAT.

"It combines SEAT's dynamic new design language with the latest technology. Fine details and precise design, especially in the interior, reflect the high standard of craftsmanship of the new Leon."
