Burnley have secured three successive wins for the first time this season after a home victory against Coventry City at Turf Moor.

The Bristol Street Motors-backed side had enjoyed hard-fought 1-0 wins against both Swansea City and Bristol City in the previous two games, but expected a difficult challenge against a side that was unbeaten under interim boss Rhys Carr.

The first half was low on real chances for either side although Burnley had more of the ball, with Jaidon Anthony having a shot blocked inside the box and Jay Rodriguez firing over the bar when well placed.

After the break however, Burnley wasted little time in grabbing the lead when Jeremy Sarmiento finished off a move he had started to fire the ball beyond Bradley Collins despite the best efforts of the ‘keeper.

Coventry struggled to create any serious chances at the other end and rarely troubled James Trafford in the home goal until Ephron Mason-Clark acrobatically volleyed in at the back post.

His goal was ruled out for offside however and Burnley took full advantage ten minutes from time when a cross from CJ Egan-Riley dropped into the net at the far post.

The 2-0 win means Burnley now sit third in the standings, just two points off the automatic promotion spots ahead of the trip to Stoke City this weekend.
