Chevy to tackle hatchback market with new Cruze
For the past 23 years, compact hatchbacks have been the biggest selling cars in the UK, and now American carmaker Chevrolet is vying to get a slice of the action with the new version of the Cruze.
The five-door hatch will start at a highly affordable £13,995 on the road and offer a range of six-speed transmissions, as a nod to its racing pedigree.
Petrolheads may be familiar with the Chevrolet Cruze, as the saloon version won the 2010 British Touring Car Drivers championship as well as the drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the World Touring Car series.
Those just looking for a reliable hatchback will be glad to learn that the Cruze comes with a five-year warranty, while optional extras include heated front leather seats, sat nav and 17-inch alloy wheels on the top-of-the-range 2.0-litre diesel model.
The hatchback version of the Chevrolet Cruze will hit UK showrooms in July, but if the saloon version is anything to go by, then it will offer "impressive value for money", according to Autocar.
