Citroen Ds3 to make tarmac WRC debut
The Citroen Ds3 WRC will make its tarmac debut at the forthcoming ADAC Rally Germany, the firm has announced.
Three teams, including Kimi Raikkonen, will take part in the event after receiving the backing of the Citroen Racing Technologies.
Raikkonen will be partnered by Kai Lindstrom, while the other pairs see Petter Solberg teamed with Chris Patterson and Peter van Merksteijn drive with Erwin Mombaerts.
All three teams have covered the distance of a full rally in the build up to the event in order to get to grips with the car's handling on tarmac.
Benoit Nogier, the Citroen Racing Technologies team manager, commented: "We've gone between six and eight months without racing on tarmac, so it was necessary to spend at least two days getting our bearings.
"Our three crews were able to test the setups selected by the works team in the heart of the vines and on the special roads in the military camp. Petter Solberg, Kimi Raikkonen and Peter Van Merksteijn Junior were very happy with the solutions and were able to fine-tune their setups."
