CUPRA's First All-Electric SUV Gains Top Safety Rating
The new CUPRA Tavascan has been handed a five star rating by Euro NCAP in the latest raft of tests carried out as part of the car safety performance programme.
The first all-electric SUV produced by CUPRA was one of three cars to undergo testing alongside the MG HS and the Ford Tourneo Courier, and joined the MG in securing the maximum five star rating.
Within the CUPRA range, the Formentor, Leon and Born have already gained the highest score possible during Euro NCAP testing.
Safe From Harm:
The Tavascan includes a raft of systems that have been designed to protect both those inside the car as well as vulnerable road users, including predictive, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and fatigue detector, as well as swerve support and turn assist.
All models produced from June 2024 onwards also come with an ‘active bonnet’, where the rear section of the bonnet is automatically raised in the event of an imminent collision to help reduce the potential for a severe head injury.
“Safety is a key pillar of CUPRA’s approach to vehicle development, delivering vehicles that not only meet customer needs, but also place their well-being at the forefront,” said Dr. Werner Tietz, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at CUPRA.
“The CUPRA Tavascan’s result after undergoing Euro NCAP’s rigorous testing highlights the hard work of the development team and the brand’s willingness to develop the safest vehicles possible.”
