Dacia Launch 'Real Life Test Drives' After Biggest Driver Challenges Revealed

The new scheme comes after a recent survey revealed the most common driving challenges for motorists. From driving a person in labour to hospital to putting up with a ‘back seat’ driver.

• Nearly half of people (42%) said they found day-to-day driving situations more challenging than experiencing road rage (30%).
• Two of the biggest challenges shared were taking a loved one or friend to hospital during labour or being the designated driver after a night out.
• The survey also looked into the top ten cities with the most stressed drivers, with Birmingham taking the top spot at 51%, followed by London at 48%.

For as long as anyone can remember, test drives have been the go-to way to decide whether a car is right for you. They are a great way to get a feel for a car and what it’s like to drive – as every car is different.

Some manufacturers have started offering 24-hour test drives for a more realistic experience. Dacia has gone one step further, launching their ‘Real Life Test Drives’. Read on for everything you need to know.

Common driver challenges

So, pardon the pun but what drives people crazy behind the wheel? New research has revealed it all.

In a recent Dacia survey, 42% of respondents said they are more annoyed by everyday driving situations compared to road rage (30%). The research also looked into specific situations that make drivers feel the most stressed or challenged. These were the top ten:

1. Driving in heavy rain or snow.

2. Driving with a ‘back seat’ driver telling you how to drive.

3. Driving with a passenger who gets car sick.

4. Driving with a child who needs the toilet on a motorway.

5. Driving with children arguing in the back.

6. Driving a friend or loved one to the hospital during labour.

7. Driving with friends arguing.

8. Driving alone with a crying baby.

9. Being the designated driver after a night out with drunk passengers.

10. Going on a road trip with passengers and luggage packed up high in the car.

Over 1 in 10 (12%) of respondents also admitted that they feel unprepared for these scenarios. Up to 57% said they felt like they had to “learn on the job.”

With drivers now spending up to 350 hours on average in their car each year, Dacia wanted to help change this. Introducing ‘Real Life Test Drives.’

‘Real Life Test Drives’

On Thursday 5th September 2024, Dacia will be hosting ‘Real Life Test Drives’ at their new London West retailer.

The event will offer drivers the chance to test drive a new model under real-life scenarios. These include some of the common challenges like driving with a passenger who gets car sick or enduring a back-seat driver.

A cast of actors will be playing the roles of these passengers, so you’ll get a real feel for what it would be like should you ever be in that situation. These are the real-life test drives that will be available to book:

1. Driving with a back-seat driver who thinks they know better

2. Driving with someone who gets car sick

3. Taking a friend or loved one to the hospital during labour

4. Driving with arguing friends

5. Being a designated driver with ‘excitable’ passengers on the way back from a night out

It may seem like an unconventional way to test drive a car, but a ‘Real Life Test Drive’ will make you feel more prepared for trickier moments at the wheel.
