Exeter Chiefs Women haven’t been around long, but they are certainly making an impact in the world of rugby.

Founded in 2019, their mission was simple - to compete in the Premier 15s and promote female participation in rugby.

In their debut season, they finished sixth - recording the longest winning streak of any team in the process. The squad has gone from strength to strength since.

Head Coach Susie Appleby, and her team of coaching staff are working hard to develop the team. Appleby has previously stated that the team has no limits, and she wants to see the women’s game achieve the same success as the men’s game at some point in time.

The side is currently made up of a mix of international players and local talent. Plus, with strong ties to Exeter University, it has a flow of young, skilled players coming through the ranks on a continual basis. Nurturing talent is imperative to the success of the club, and they are fully on board with the process.

Additionally, the Exeter Chiefs’ men’s and women’s teams currently share facilities, resources, and knowledge – a mutually beneficial partnership that helps both squads develop and evolve.

Plus, two of Exeter’s star players, Emily Tuttosi and Hope Rogers have recently been named in World Rugby’s Women’s Dream Team of the Year. A testament to their efforts on the pitch over the last season.

It’s certainly an exciting time to be involved with the club as a whole – and we are proud to be a part of it.
