Group Stage Draw Confirmed For 2024/25 Bristol Street Motors Trophy

The draw for the first round of the 2024/25 Bristol Street Motors Trophy has been confirmed, throwing up some interesting fixtures as the ‘Road To Wembley' gets underway.

The draw, held live on Sky Sports News and carried out by Trophy-winning bosses Lee Johnson and Paul Heckingbottom, allocated the 16 sides representing Category One Academies into the different groups - eight of which sit in the Northern region and eight in the Southern region.

The 48 EFL Clubs from League One and League Two had already been placed into pre-determined groups prior to the draw, with a number of interesting fixtures being thrown up.

In the Northern side of the draw, Salford City and the Class of '92 will go up against Hollywood-owned Wrexham in Group B while there is a Yorkshire flavour to Group F which will see Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Huddersfield Town all looking to make it through to the knock-out stages alongside the Manchester United U21 side.

In the Southern section, Birmingham City’s return to the competition after being relegated from the Championship will include a local derby with Walsall whilst EFL newcomers Bromley can look ahead to a game with former Premier League side Charlton Athletic as well as Chelsea's youngsters.

Defending champions Peterborough United will face Gillingham and Stevenage as well as the Crystal Palace U21 side. Bristol Rovers, Exeter City and Swindon Town are joined by Tottenham Hotspur U21, who topped the table in Premier League 2 last season before becoming the first side to win final of the Elimination Play-offs.

From this season, every game in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy - from the group stage through to the final - will be available to watch live on Sky Sports, whilst talkSPORT has exclusive radio rights to broadcast ten matches.
