Hyundai i20s ready for Rally de Portugal
Hyundai will be sending out three of its i20 models at the Rally de Portugal in the Algarve region next week.
It marks the first appearance of the car at a World Rally Championship event and the Hyundai team are hoping to build on the success it recently achieved at the Rally Mexico.
In addition to providing some stiff competition in the rally event, it is hoped the driving team will provide feedback on the i20, so the manufacturer can make certain changes to the car to improve its mileage.
Michael Nandan, team principal, said: "We have a good combination of drivers in Portugal with Thierry, Juho and Dani; each will bring their own skills and experience to help us in the continued development of the Hyundai i20 WRC. Portugal is not an easy event but we have prepared diligently with some positive testing in the region and we have seen that the Hyundai i20 WRC is reliable in those conditions."
When discussing the conditions, Mr Nandan is talking about the loose surface and abrasive stages the rally presents. He remains confident that the i20 is more than capable of handling the difficult terrain.
