Hyundai named as top Global Green Brand
South Korean car maker Hyundai has been named as one of the world's greenest brands.
The firm, which is responsible for a number of popular motors including the Santa Fe, Matrix, Grandeur and I10, has been lauded by international brand consultancy Interbrand.
According to the firm, Hyundai's Blue Drive eco-friendly strategy makes it a leader in zero-emission, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle development.
"The company is so confident in its fuel efficiency that starting this year it is reporting monthly fleet fuel efficiency figures in the US. Hyundai has recently seen strong improvements in energy, GHG emissions, water, waste, and toxic emissions," Interbrand wrote in its latest survey.
Overall, Hyundai ranked 11th on the top 50 list and the firm ranked fourth out of the seven automotive brands included in the survey.
The firm is currently considering plans to bring plug-in hybrid vehicles to market soon, while test fleets of its hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles and pure-electric vehicles are currently being carried out.
