Kia Sportage Tops October Registrations

The Kia Sportage topped the figures for new car registrations in October, although the market saw a reduction from last year of more than 9,000 vehicles according to the latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

In October, a total of 144,288 new cars were registered, which marks a reduction of 6% from the same period twelve months ago.

Whilst sales were lower for Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models, the sales of Battery Electric Vehicles increased by nearly 25% year-on-year, helped by the introduction of a raft of new models and manufacturer discounting.

In terms of registrations, the Kia Sportage topped the figures for the month with more than 4,500 cars registered although the Ford Puma remains the most popular new car in the UK for 2024 as a whole – albeit with only 350 more units than the Sportage.
