Mazda wins award for Skyactiv technology
Mazda has received an industry award for a technology set to be launched in the UK in 2012.
The manufacturer was given the Innovation Award for its Skyactiv programme at the 2011 Fleet World Honours during a special event at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall on Wednesday (May 11th).
Skyactiv offers a range of technologies delivering fuel savings and emission reductions through retuned powertrains, better aerodynamics, weight reduction and chassis improvement.
The first model to feature the technology will be the Mazda CX-5, which will reach UK shores next year.
Mazda expects that Skyactiv will enable its vehicles to achieve a 30 per cent improvement on its average 2008 fuel economy figure.
"The introduction of these technologies will result not only in major reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for all Mazda models, but will also ensure that Mazda's sustainable Zoom-Zoom strategy can continue to provide fuel-efficient, low-emission motoring," Fleet World editor Steve Moody commented.
According to the manufacturer, the Mazda CX-5 will make its debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September.
