Most popular new cars of 2017 (so far)
The first three months of 2017 are nearly over, where has the time gone? If you’re thinking of buying a brand-new car, now is the right time as from 1st April, road tax is changing.
Currently, road tax is calculated based on the CO2 emissions of your car, meaning the higher CO2 emissions your vehicle produces, the more road tax you pay.
First the first year, you pay a First Licence Rate and another for the second and subsequent years (Standard Rate). Similar to the First Licence Rate, the Standard Rate also increases with CO2 emissions.
However, from 1st April 2017, the way road tax is calculated is going to change. The first-year rate will still be related to the CO2 emissions of your vehicle, but the rates will increase as the bands change.
Vehicles with a 'List Price' of £40,000.00 or less, the rate will be £140.
Vehicles with a 'List Price' over £40,000.00, an 'additional rate' of £310 (a total of £450) will be due from the end of the first year, for 5 years.
After the additional VED rate expires the £450 will revert to £140, or whatever the current rate is at the time.
This means that you could save up to £680 by purchasing a brand-new car before 1st April. Check out the list below Bristol Street Motors’ customers top 10 new cars sold in 2017 (so far!)

10. Hyundai Tucson 1.7 Crdi Blue Drive Se Nav Diesel Estate
For quite some time, Hyundai’s ix35 replaced the original Tucson, and was made to encapsulate the idea of a Crossover, and rival its competition. Although the ix35 gained some respectful sales, the Tucson is back with a bang, and in the grand scheme of things, is a bit of a game-changer. With a much leaner look, the Tucson will have no problem in truly capturing the imagination of the buying public, catapulting the Korean brand into the more ‘mainstream’ light that they very much deserve.
