Peugeot has announced that its new 208 GTi hot hatch will be available across the UK this spring, with drivers in for a treat once they step behind the vehicle's steering wheel.

A sportier version of the iconic Peugeot 208, one of the most eye-catching points about the vehicle's specification list is that a 200hp 1.6-litre THP turbo petrol engine can be found under its bonnet.

This motor enables the Peugeot 208 GTi to jump to 6.2mph from a standstill in a mere 6.8 seconds, while also producing an exceptional 203lb ft of torque at just 1,700rpm.

Drivers concerned about the environment will also be pleased to hear that, despite all of the 208 GTi's power and performance credentials, the hot hatch limits its CO2 emissions to a respectable 139g/km.

Away from how the Peugeot 208 GTi performs when out on the open road, the French car giant has also ensured its sporty new vehicle is a joy to behold.

This is helped by the fact that drivers will be able to pick out an aggressive-looking twin chrome exhaust pipe and sporty-themed body coloured rear spoiler when they first lay eyes on Peugeot's flash hot hatch.

Once the sun goes down, motorists can also try out the 208 GTi's lighting signature arrangement and DRL with LED technology, which will light up the road ahead in spectacular fashion.

Inside the cabin of the Peugeot 208 GTi hot hatch, the French manufacturer has guaranteed that every drive is a treat with the inclusion of a nifty DAB Radio system as standard.

A GTi trim which comes complete with sports seats and a black half leather design ensures driver and passenger comfort too, while the addition of a rear parking aid should save the hassle once motorists reach their destination in this new Peugeot 208.

Drivers can try out the Peugeot 208 GTi for themselves when the hot hatch hits UK roads on April 18th.
